The Jungle, known by some as simply the “student store”, has offered the students of Emerald Ridge various products over the years. These include smoothies, espresso drinks, Tahitians, snacks, and Emerald Ridge-themed apparel. The Jungle is run by students enrolled in Emerald Ridge’s Business and Marketing classes. Those in Business I and Business II work in the store while the students in Business III both work in the store and manage it.

Emma Tarsi, a Business 3 student, is the general manager of The Jungle. She has overseen and helped introduce many new products and promotions that the store has offered this year.

“I think the store has made a tremendous improvement throughout this year because we are implementing lots of new ideas to expand our store,” Tarsi said. “We’ve been able to reach a larger target market [through the teacher order system], we’ve created new drinks, and our apparel has expanded in new ways.”

Another Business III student, Hannah Wisti, has been hard at work throughout the school year coming up with new drinks, especially with the store’s new “Drink of the Month” promotion. Each month, a new flavor of drink is introduced and is only available for the duration of that month. Some drinks that have been offered include a peppermint hot chocolate in December, a raspberry Italian soda in February, and a “Shamrock Shake” in March.

“I think my favorite drink I created this year was the Drink of the Month for January, which was the Cookie Crumble, because it tasted yummy but didn’t even contain cookie,” Wisti said.

In April, the student store will be offering a caramel apple smoothie as the Drink of the Month. Included at the bottom of this page is a coupon for 50% off of the Drink of the Month, valid until the end of April. All you have to do is either print out the coupon or show it on your phone at the store.
