The 2016 Daffodil Coronation had 10 girls in the running for the crown. The winner is selected to represent Emerald Ridge by a panel of judges that listened to the girl’s answer both impromptu questions submitted by teachers on stage, and an interview performed individually before the ceremony.

The contestants were judged on their dedication to the community above all else and advisor Patti McMullan stresses each year that the Daffodil Princesses are part of something much larger than a beauty pageant. This is a leadership program that allows young girls to get involved in their city, get to know the people around them, and give back to those in need.

Senior Jane McDonald was crowned the Daffodil Princess at the annual coronation ceremony on October 6th in the Emerald Ridge auditorium. While the rest of the Daffodil Court will continue their service as part of the program, McDonald will wear the crown and the title of Princess for months to come.
