Student led conferences were held Oct. 21 and 22 at Emerald Ridge

Sophomores, juniors and seniors were to bring parents after school on the half days to discuss grades, their future plans, and where they see themselves in ten years.

Although this can be nerve-wracking, some students don’t think very highly of this event.

“Pointless,” junior Tyler Billings said.

Most students feel the same, mostly about using HAC (Home Access Center), a website one can check their grades freely at home, instead of a conference.

“I don’t understand why we have to,” junior Morgan Pipkin said. “I mean, we have HAC. Why can’t our parents just check that?”

The staff here at Emerald Ridge think otherwise.

“I think it’s a great way to get one-on-one with parents: to get them involved with school life,” relationships and human development teacher Jennifer Muehlenbruch said.
